Most people know about Busan’s Gamcheon Culture Village at this point. Renovating the old, decaying village into a town of colorful murals, museums, and quaint alleyways has breathed new life into the area and turned it into a popular tourist spot in Busan. However, not everyone knows that’s there is another colorful village just a short distance away. Huinnyeoul Culture Village shares a similar revival story with Gamcheon, as the city aimed to transform the island of Yeongdo -gu and make it more attractive to visitors. It not only offers similar charms to Gamcheon, but also treats visitors picturesque coastal walk that is amazing during sunset. Huinnyeoul, which translates to “white water’, is located on the southwestern coast of Yeongdo, easily accesible by bridge from the mainland.
I recently got to work with LaChelle and Salah at Huinnyeoul Culture Village for their pre-wedding portraits. We made our way through the colorful alleyways and seaside vantage points along the village path. Around sunset time, we headed down to the coastal walk to get a sunset backdrop of the Namhang Bridge and Songdo Beach skyline. Below are some of my favorite images from that session.
