Jennifer and Jake’s Haeundae Beach Wedding – Busan Korea Photographer

Summer 2016 has been one of the hottest ever in South Korea.  Because of this, one would generally avoid going outdoors.  But on Jennifer and Jake’s special day in Busan, the couple and a group of friends braved the heat and had a beautiful wedding on Haeundae Beach.

Preparations were done at the Westin Chosun hotel, which is conveniently located right on the same beach.  The day started with a bit of hide and seek, as Jennifer and Jake tried to avoid seeing each other before the ceremony.

Busan is where the couple first met, and a wedding on it’s most famous beach would be quite special for them.  Although outdoor beach weddings are fairly uncommon in Korea at this point, they were able to get permission from the city as long as it would be done after a certain time in the evening.  This worked out well, as the huge summer crowd had thinned out and sweltering heat was more bearable by the time the ceremony began.  Needless to say, this uncommon occurrence also drew quite a crowd and the couple got lots of cheers during the ring exchange and many congratulations from hotel guests.

After the ceremony, we headed over to nearby Nurimaru APEC House for some early evening portraits with a lovely lighthouse and the city skyline.  Special thanks to the nice man who held my light stand after my makeshift light stand support failed on me. 😉

The couple wrapped up the evening with a reception dinner at a nearby Latin restaurant.  There was good food, drinks and even some cigars.  The view of Busan’s Marine City skyline was a beautiful backdrop for the festivities.

All in all, it was beautiful day and a refreshing change from the typical wedding hall ceremony.  I thank Jennifer and Jake for trusting me to document their wedding (and engagement too).  If you need a documentary style wedding photographer in South Korea, please get in touch!  I’d love to hear from you! 스냅 사진 필요하신분 연락해주세요! 한국말 도 합니다!
