Some time ago, had the chance to photograph Mary Rose and her family during cherry blossom season in Jinhae, one of the most popular spots in South Korea for spring portraits.
This was a relaxed afternoon session around their neighborhood, making it feel natural and personal right from the start. With cherry blossoms in full bloom lining the streets and parks, we didn’t have to go far to find beautiful backdrops.
Their two young daughters brought so much energy to the session — lots of movement, laughter, and candid moments throughout. We kept things flexible, mixing in a few posed family portraits with more natural interactions as they played and explored.
Towards the end of the shoot, we spent some time at a nearby playground, which turned out to be a perfect way to wrap things up. It gave the kids a chance to just be themselves, and those moments always make for some of the most genuine photos.
Sessions like this are a great reminder that family photography doesn’t always need to be formal — sometimes the best images come from simply documenting a regular afternoon together, especially during a season as beautiful as cherry blossom time in Jinhae.
