Recently I had the chance to photograph Abby’s senior portrait session in Gyeongju, after being contacted by her mom to help document this important milestone.
For the session we met in Gyeongju, one of my favorite places in South Korea for portraits. Often called a living museum, the city is filled with historic sites and traditional architecture. We photographed around Woljeong Bridge and Kyochon Village, two beautiful locations that showcase the classic lines and colors of traditional Korean buildings. With Abby wearing hanbok, the setting created a timeless look that worked perfectly for her portraits.
Gyeongju also holds a special meaning for Abby, as it’s her birthplace, which made the session even more meaningful. Returning there for her senior portraits added a personal connection to the images.
In the United States, senior portraits are an important tradition marking the transition from high school to the next chapter of life. Many students choose locations and styles that reflect their personality, interests, or personal history. Sessions like this are a great way to create lasting images that celebrate that moment in time.
As a portrait photographer in South Korea, I often work with couples, families, and students looking for portraits that feel both natural and meaningful. Historic locations like Gyeongju offer a unique backdrop that’s hard to find anywhere else in the country.
Below are some highlights from Abby’s senior portrait session in Gyeongju, South Korea.
